Travel Scholarship June-September 1999

During the second year of my studies at the Manchester School of Architecture I was awarded a Travel Scholarship that enabled me to undertake a three month period of travel in Central America. The primary subject of study was the work of Mexican architect Luis Barragan which necessitated some memorable adventures in the seething metropolis of Mexico City. Barragan's 1957 Torres Satélite remain a considerable source of inspiration.

The trip also encompassed visits to several Mayan sites, often in remote parts of the Honduran and Guatemalan rainforest.
