This project grew out of an inter-professional studio in which architects worked together with masters-level planning students. In teams we undertook a series of preliminary studies to explore the possibilities for higher education in the context of Manchester's desire to rebrand itself as "The Knowledge Capital". My thesis project went on to explore the consequences of this for the University of Salford as an institution.
Whilst responding to local and national government policy and the prevailing economic environment, the form and program of the scheme are generated by the specifities of the campus context. (continued)
