CrashPads - Manchester

This project for 144 'CrashPad' apartments on a site in Manchester city centre was the first in the city to propose small studio apartments aimed at first-time buyers and commuters. Each apartment, which measured only 25sqm in floor area, was to contain fitted, moveable and concealable beds, cupboards and seating arrangements that gave the room a great flexibility.

I was involved in this project from the start, working with the client and consultants to produce a planning application. However, this controversial application was eventually refused by the city council and the project has been shelved pending further developments.
